It is an additional $15 a month for each successive 250 MB, up to 1 GB. 1 GB is $80 a month.
After 1 GB, we will give you a quote. The installation cost, which includes the price of client software, is a one-time $150 fee.

How do I know how many MB I need to back up?

In order to keep your costs down, you should only back up necessary data files. The DataHog set-up screen will tell you approximately how much server storage space the files you have selected will take up. |

Does it always do a full backup?
| |
No; after the initial full backup, it normally just saves the pieces of files that have changed, using its FastBit technology. |

How often can I back up my data?
| |
As often as you like, you can schedule the software to back up once a week, once a day, or several times a day. You can also perform additional manual backups if you would like. |

How long does a backup take?
| |
The first backup will probably take a while, but after that, it will take from 1-15 minutes, depending on your connection speed. However, you can use your computer as usual while the backup service runs; you can also schedule the backup during hours when you will not be at the office, provided you leave your computer on. (The software runs as a service and can be programmed to turn your computer off when it has finished, if you would like.) |

If I have a lot of data, do I have to back up all of it?

That depends. Several CPA clients, for example, only back up the current year and the last year with DataHog. The prior years they burn to multiple CD copies and store them at different locations. Most of their clients’ immediate requests are for accounting information from this year or last year, which could be rapidly retrieved from DataHog, if necessary. |

Do I need to have high-speed Internet to use the service?

Is the data encrypted?

Yes, it is. The data is encrypted as it is picked up off the hard disk and is therefore compliant with HIPAA and Sarbanes-Oxley standards. |

Can I save and retrieve individual files?
|
How long are my data files kept? Can I retrieve a file from a particular day?

The system default is 30 days. Today, you can retrieve an exact file that you saved up to 30 days ago; i.e., you can retrieve a file from last Wednesday, and it will look exactly the same as it did then. |

Does DataHog back up its server?

Yes. We are mirrored onto at least one other server. |

Are the other servers at the same location?
| |
No. Additional servers are in different locations. |

How do I pay for the service?

Preferably by an authorized monthly credit card debit. We accept all major credit cards.
If you would prefer to pay by check, we will accept quarterly pre-payments based on estimated usage. Any variances in storage fees will appear on the next quarter’s pre-pay bill. |
